| | Jacksonville Police Looking For Leads In Violent Murder
"This one was unnerving. There was quite a struggle that took place," says Jacksonville Police Lt. Martin Cass.
Jacksonville
police say they haven't determined the exact cause of death for
22-year-old William Ramsey. But they say his apartment was the scene of
a bloody and brutal fight, one Ramsey did not win. Police say that does
not mean the victim did not know his attacker.
Lt. Cass says,
"Sometimes it may be somebody that you do know that you get into a
struggle with. A domestic situation, friends, any type of situation
like that you get into an argument with them."
Jessica Roberts and her three-year-old daughter live right across from Ramsey's apartment. She's already making plans to move.
Roberts
says, "They said he went in the window, or who ever. They think he went
in the window. They're not sure but, I was just telling my dad I don't
like living on the bottom level because it's so easy to get in a
window."
Police say there are no signs of robbery. The victim's
car is still parked in front of the apartment. They say there were no
signs of drugs or other illegal activity.
"Very, very
shocking. Everyone's hearts and prayers go out to his family," says
Jason Lemon, manager at the Walgreens where Ramsey worked. He says Ramsey was quiet, but a hard worker and good employee. They last saw him Friday night.
Lemon
says, "He would have left probably about 10:45 and went home. And
Saturday night came and we didn't hear from him. We tried to call him
and got no response. And Sunday came and that's when we called the
police."
Ramsey recently moved to Jacksonville from Russellville
where he worked at Arkansas Tech. He had moved into his apartment about
five months ago.
